The Department of Mathematics is one of the main academic departments at the college of Sciences and Humanities Studies in Alaflaj. The department offers a bachelor's degree in mathematics. It teaches varieties of courses such as courses in mathematics, physics and chemistry. All the courses are taught in English, except Arabic and Islamic studies related university requirements courses. The department also develops its Academic and Research programs in conformity with the needs and requirements of job markets and various developments in different areas of activities in the kingdom.

The Department of Mathematics is one of the major teaching and research departments in the college of Sciences and Humanities Studies in Alaflaj. The department is committed to preparing its students for a variety of careers in government, industry, and teaching professions; and to advance fundamental knowledge in the areas of pure math, applied math, and actuarial science and financial mathematics.
The department has faculty members of international stature with research interests in several areas of mathematics, physics and chemistry. The department has a good number of full–time students in its graduate programs in Mathematics, and in its undergraduate majors in math.
The Department is committed to promoting scientific research. The faculty members are supported in their research by PSAU.
The department is also committed to community service through participation in national societies and organizations.
